Life in Switzerland is Great
A strong, stable economy with low unemployment makes the country a safe place for anyone looking for long-term employment. Its central location in Europe shortens the distances to other major cities – both professionally and personally.
In addition, there is a mix of modern infrastructure and nature: hiking, skiing and the Alps on the one hand, the cultural life in Zurich, Geneva and Lucerne on the other. The society is multilingual – German, French, Italian and Rätoromanic are official languages, English is widely spoken in the professional world.
Question of Work permit
How complicated the journey to Switzerland is depends primarily on your passport.
EU and EFTA: mostly uncomplicated
People from the EU and EFTA area benefit from the free movement agreement and quickly receive a work permit in Switzerland. The central location also makes it easier to travel to other European cities – both professionally and privately.
From non-EU countries: very restrictive
Access to the Swiss labor market is deliberately restricted for people from third countries. Approval is granted only in exceptional cases – and only if the employer demonstrates that no suitable person can be found for the position either in Switzerland or in the EU/EFTA region.
In addition, there is the issue of recognition of diplomas: degrees from third countries are generally not directly recognized; often additional examinations or compensatory measures are required. The process is therefore time-consuming and the outcome is uncertain.
Therefore, we can only consider applications from third countries in rare and exceptional cases. We ask for your understanding that we cannot guarantee any placement in this case.
